Mr. Damir Krešić
Biography
Damir has over 15 years of experience in the tourism sector, especially in the areas of destination management and marketing, destination master planning and application of ICT in tourism and hospitality industry. After finishing high school education in the USA, Damir graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb with a degree in Finance, completed his master’s degree in Foreign Trade and got his PhD in Tourism. He currently holds position of managing director at the Institute for Tourism in Zagreb, Croatia. Institute for Tourism is a public research Institute specialized for research and consultancy services in tourism. Institute for Tourism is an affiliate member of the UNWTO. Throughout his career, Damir has been involved in a number of long-term tourism development projects, either as the project manager or as a member of project team. He has successfully collaborated with public and private sector as well as with variety of stakeholders involved in tourism development on the destination level. During this period, Damir has acquired an in-depth knowledge of tourism sector as well as understanding of the role that public and private sector play in destination management and marketing. Finally, Damir has over ten years of teaching experience at the VERN’ University of Applied Science, where he holds a position as Senior Lecturer and teaches different courses from the field of tourism.
Damir has published a number of papers in scientific and professional journals from the field of tourism.
