Jordi Ficapal i Mestres has a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology (UB), Strategy and Regional Competitiveness (UPC), Family and Social Welfare (UB), and a Master in Development Cooperation (UB) and Public Administration (ESADE ). Director of the Centre for Responsible Tourism at the School of Tourism & Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi (Universitat Ramon Llull) where he has held various responsibilities as Research and Academic Director, Lead Researcher of the Research Group on Ethics of Tourism and Hospitality (GRETHOS ) and professor of various subjects such as “Anthropology and sociology of tourism”, “Analysis of the tourism environment”, “Sustainable Tourism”, “Tourism and Community Development” and “Responsible Tourism” among others. He is a member of the Chair of Applied Ethics ETHOS and the UNESCO Chair of Development Cooperation of the URL and member of the International Network of Researchers in Development Cooperation and Tourism COODTUR. He directed between 2003 and 2006 the group of consultants for the implementation of the Global Code of Tourism Ethics for the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). In 2013 he organized and chaired with Professor Harold Goodwin the 7th International Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destinations held in Barcelona.
